Text Book: Weaving a Website– Susan Anderson-Freed – Prentice Hall Publishing

 

An introduction to website development. This course focuses on developing scripting and programming skills necessary to design, create, and enhance Web pages for personal and business use.  Students will acquire hands-on experience in creating Web pages that include text, images, tables, frames, forms, sound, and video.  Students will work with a variety of scripting and programming languages.

 

Learning outcomes: 

 

1.       Work within a graphical environment (GUI).

2.       Design and layout of a Web page.

3.       Create Web pages using the HTML markup language.

4.       Create Web pages that contain various page elements such as, text, images, frames, etc.

5.       Create Web pages that interact with client side programs written in languages such as JavaScript.

6.       Create Web pages that interact with server side programs written in languages such as Perl.

7.    Understand and properly use the common terminology used for the design and creation of Web pages.

   

Grading: Projects/Homework 40% Exam 1 30%  Exam 2 30%

 

Instructor’s note:  This is my first time teaching this course at Boyce Campus and the book is new to me; therefore, I probably will be making changes on the fly.  In any case, it promises to be a fun, informative course.
